La Paz Quilt Club
The La Paz Quilt Club is a very informal group who meet, quilt and sew in the Vista Room at Marina de La Paz. Most Quilt Club members are also members of Club Cruceros.
The quilters generally meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am but check the Club Cruceros online Vista Room Schedule to be sure.
This group is not only about sewing and quilting. A major portion of their efforts are spent on charity work. The groups present favorite charity is the La Paz community of Villas de Guadalupe.
In December the Quilt Club puts on a Charity Christmas Bazaar at Marina de La Paz featuring over 50 vendors selling everything from handmade crafts and jewelry to kettle corn. You can also buy a yummy breakfast made by the quilters and their Mexican friends. The highlight of the bazaar is the ongoing raffles of over 50 items donated by the vendors with the grand prize of a beautiful hand made quilt. All monies collected during the event go to charity.
Another successful charity event put on by the Quilt Club is the annual Fashion Show. Cruisers volunteer to model and strut their stuff in fashions provided by a local La Paz boutique. The show is accompanied by a fabulous luncheon and a short presentation featuring the charity group benefiting from the event.
